In countries of the West unemployment is mostly the effect of information revolution and, in
the result of comprehensive activities of states, is decreasing. In Poland unemployment is the consequence of the way of transformation and the limitation of the demand; it is high and growing. At
a big scale and openly unemployment emerged in 1990 as one of the effects of the economic programme which was realized by the then government. In the following years a so called culture of
unemployment was being formed in Poland, the syndrome of being rejected. A type of society
arose, deviated by unemployment and the accompanying phenomena. The conclusion is: unemployment has become the main economic, political and cultural problem in Poland; it is a social
problem in a largo sense.
