ABSTRACT
Changes taking place currently with regard to migration policies in European countries
aiming at the rise of their restrictiveness, put researchers who are interested in migration
processes in the need to look for new perspectives and research tools that would allow
a more complete analysis. The article aims to present a little-known in Poland but often
used in France theoretical category of convention. The mentioned category enables to capture and to emphasize the role of social actors with regard to process of shaping key
assumptions and methods of implementation of different public policies. In the article,
the category of convention has been presented with reference to the French immigrant
integration policy.
