This article aims to assess an effectiveness of various social policy models in solving
major problem of old age people. In order to do so I identify age orientation of these
models and evaluate the level of satisfaction of some important needs of the aged.
I conclude that the effectiveness of different models is similar as concerns middle income
strata and substantially different in relation to low income strata. Looking from that
perspective it turns out that the most effective social policy models are social-democratic
and conservative-corporatist ones.
